Our
PDQ Sarasota team was a proud sponsor of the Where Angels Play Foundation, helping the organization build their 48th playground in the South Lido Beach section of Sarasota (FL).
Where Angels Play is an organization founded by retired New Jersey firefighter Bill Lavin after he was inspired to do good and give back to the families of the 26 children whose lives were tragically taken on the day of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Connecticut. Bill and his team of volunteers, consisting mostly of retired police, firefighters and EMTs, set out to build playgrounds dedicated to those taken too soon. Since its start in 2012, the organization has grown substantially and has built playgrounds all across the United States, Canada and most recently in Kibeho, Rwanda, a small country in central Africa.
The newest park opened on Saturday and honors Christopher and Jarrod Ditmars, two brothers from the Sarasota community who both passed away at a young age. Our PDQ team provided delicious hand-breaded tenders and homemade sauces to over 100 volunteers who came out to help build the playground last Thursday. Our crew even stopped by again on Saturday for the Ribbon Cutting ceremony to treat all the attendees to an assortment of fresh baked cookies.
Our team had a great time meeting all of the volunteers from the Where Angels Play organization who traveled to Florida from up and down the whole East Coast to bring joy to the Ditmars family. Tender lovers in Sarasota can stop by and check out the brand new park, and then head to PDQ to get their chicken fix.
