In front of a sellout crowd last Monday, the
Tampa Theatre hosted a special documentary screening event for long-time PDQ team member Sam Piazza, who was born with Down syndrome. Sam has accomplished some great things in his life and has had an amazing impact on his friends, family, and his community. Movie producer
Renee Warmack wanted to put a spotlight on Sam’s life story up to this point.
Being different has not always been easy for Sam, but he has learned how to embrace love, courage, and a positive attitude on a daily basis. Sam’s many accomplishments from being crowned Homecoming King at Gaither High School, to being an outstanding team member for PDQ shows just how much he cares for his family and his community. This documentary will change people’s perspectives on disabilities, and show that these people with disabilities can accomplish great things in their lives. This documentary is inspiring for all people to help them push past their limiting beliefs and to achieve their wildest dreams.
During the meet and great prior to the screening, visitors were welcomed with fresh food from PDQ as well as an opportunity to meet Sam and his family. After the screening was complete and a standing ovation for Sam, there was a short Q and A session where many great questions and topics were discussed.
As the night ended, Warmack announced that due to overwhelming demand, a second show has been added on Saturday, August 10 at 12:30pm at Tampa Theatre. For more information about the movie, visit
