PDQ and
The Alonso Foundation are teaming up to give back all month long to celebrate the return of baseball season. The Foundation, started in 2020 by New York Mets All-Star First Baseman Pete Alonso and his wife, Haley, helps those in need by being a voice and standing up for those who can’t speak for themselves. The Alonso Foundation supports youth initiatives, animal welfare, and veteran’s aid as the core of its mission.
Starting with the day of the Mets’ home opener on Thursday, April 6, guests to PDQ’s two Long Island locations in Farmingdale (NY) and Westbury (NY), as well as PDQ restaurants in Port St. Lucie (FL) and Stuart (FL), can round up their check or make a donation, with 100 percent of all money raised given directly to the Alonso Foundation. The partnership runs through Sunday, May 1.

"Being able to partner with PDQ, and all the people there, means a lot to us,” said Alonso. “PDQ stands for quality in all that they do and they are so supportive of giving back to important causes like those that The Alonso Foundation works every day to help. Personally I love the spicy chicken sandwich and it's just really cool that every guest can help us generate funds to be used back in the community."
Alonso is a two-time Major League Baseball All-Star who led the league in home runs in 2019 and RBI in 2021. He made his MLB debut during the 2019 season and broke the major league record for the most home runs by a rookie with 53. He was also the first Mets player to hit 50 or more home runs in a season, setting the Mets' single-season home run record in the process.
“Pete is an All-Star on and off the field, and the work he and Haley are doing to help so many is incredible to see,” said Nick Reader, PDQ Co-Founder and CEO. “Pete is making a difference in New York and Florida, and we are honored to partner with him and his foundation. It has been special to watch him and our brand grow and flourish together, from our original PDQ location across from Plant High School in Tampa where he started, to our location in Gainesville during his amazing career at the University of Florida, and now our Long Island restaurants and his Mets success.”

About the Alonso Foundation
In 2020, Haley and Pete Alonso were moved by the tremendous sacrifice being demonstrated by the multitude of heroes and frontline workers in our communities. They initially formed their foundation to honor these local heroes, and have since expanded to build up the causes they care most deeply about – supporting our youth, veteran's needs, and animal welfare. The mission of 'standing up for those who can’t' remains their guiding philosophy for giving.
