PDQ Safety Updates

To our PDQ Family,

Your health and safety is paramount to us, and we are carefully monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation following local, state and federal guidelines closely to ensure the safety of guests and Team Members. We will continue to make necessary adjustments as part of the commitment to the well-being of our guests and our PDQ teams.

Nearly all of our Florida, New York, North Carolina and South Carolina locations are open for dining room seating at 50 percent capacity, To Go orders, drive-thru and patio seating where available. In addition to the defined cleaning routines at each of our locations, here are some updated safety measures we are committed to taking at all locations:

- We have provided protective masks for our Team Members to wear at all times at every location.
- Gloves will be worn by Team Members at all times.
- Implement no-contact for all credit card payments, including Apple Pay and Android Pay options, and the guest inserting their card in and out of the card reader.
 - Constantly monitor all food service procedures to ensure all safety measures are being taken.
- Provide ongoing daily communication with Team Members regarding the need for consistent and proper handwashing.
- Continue to implement preventive measures in line with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other local and state health agencies.
- Emphasize frequent cleaning and disinfection of targeted areas specific to high traffic points of contact, access to handwashing facilities and hand sanitizers, and end-of-day sanitation procedures for kitchen and all other areas.
- Ensure constant communication with Team Members regarding their own health and strict policies for anyone feeling sick to stay home from work.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does the virus spread?
The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly from person to person, mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

Can the virus be spread by food?
Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread from person to person through respiratory droplets. Currently, there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food. Before preparing or eating food it is important to always wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds for general food safety.

What should people be doing to protect themselves?
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. The following precautions are recommended by the CDC:

Clean your hands

·      Clean your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay at home as much as possible.
  • Put distance between yourself and other people - Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread virus. Keeping distance from others is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others

  • You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
  • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.
    • Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
  • Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.
  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

Cover coughs and sneezes

  • If you are in a private setting and do not have on your cloth face covering, remember to always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash.
  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Clean and disinfect

  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
  • If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

What key enhancements have been put in place at our PDQ restaurants?

·      Team Members are provided with masks and gloves to wear at all times to aid in proper hygiene and minimize the circulation of respiratory droplets in the air.

·      The frequency of restaurant cleaning has been increased.

·      All Team Members have been retrained in the importance of and adherence to proper handwashing.

·      All Team Members have been provided information needed to stay vigilant and healthy, and continue to receive consistent updates.

The PDQ menu has changed and some of my favorite items are no longer available. Why?

We have trimmed down our menu to ensure that we are as consistent and efficient as possible. During this pandemic, we want to be able to continue to offer our food to as many guests as possible while managing our operations in the most systematic way possible.
